Candle Care
A little care can make your Luxe candle experience more enjoyable. Whether you're lighting a favourite fragrance for the first time or using a refill, these simple habits will help you enjoy it responsibly.
Before you light your candle
- Read the label. Follow the instructions and warnings for your particular candle, including any maximum burn time.
- Choose a safe spot. Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface where it can't tip over. Keep it away from curtains, paper, decorations and drafts.
- Trim the wick. Health Canada recommends a wick height of about 5–7 mm (¼ inch) before lighting. Follow the specific directions for your candle's wick type.
- Check the vessel. Don't burn a candle in a cracked, chipped or otherwise damaged container.
While the candle is burning
Stay in the room and keep the candle where children and pets cannot reach or knock it over. Do not move the candle while the wax is hot. Never leave a burning candle unattended or keep it lit while you're sleeping.
On the first burn, follow the candle's label about how long it should remain lit. A reasonably even wax pool can help reduce tunnelling, but safety instructions and maximum burn times always come first.
If the flame becomes unusually high or the candle starts smoking excessively, extinguish it safely and check the wick and label instructions after it cools.
When you're finished
Extinguish the flame carefully. A candle snuffer can help limit smoke. Do not pour water onto hot wax. Allow the vessel and wax to cool completely before moving, cleaning or handling them.
Stop using the candle when it reaches the minimum remaining wax level stated on its label. Avoid burning a candle all the way to the bottom of its container.
Using a Luxe candle refill
Many Luxe concrete candle vessels are made to be reused with matching refill inserts. Choose a refill that's specifically compatible with the container you own.
- Allow the old candle and vessel to cool completely.
- Follow the instructions for removing any remaining wax or used insert.
- Check the container for cracks or damage before reusing it.
- Place the matching refill inside the intended vessel as instructed.
- Trim the wick according to the product label and return the candle to a safe burning location.
Never burn a refill on its own unless its own packaging expressly permits that use. Don't substitute an improvised container or assume that every refill fits every Luxe vessel.

Storing your candles
Keep unlit candles and refills in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excess heat. Protect them from dust and handle the wicks gently.
A note about indoor air
Candles are an optional source of fragrance and atmosphere. They don't replace cleaning, ventilation or air-quality measures. If someone in your household is sensitive to smoke or fragrance, consider reducing candle use or choosing a flameless alternative.
